    Description

The Bell Boy (Paramount, 1918). One Sheet (27".5 X 41").
Fatty Arbuckle and a young Buster Keaton combine their comedic prowess in this hilarious short, where a petty rivalry over a pretty manicurist escalates into a fake bank robbery gone terribly awry. Already a well established star, Arbuckle had discovered Keaton just a year prior to this film and convinced him to abandon the vaudeville stage for the newfangled silver screen. The two made a total of fourteen shorts together, with Keaton gaining greater and greater popularity under Arbuckle's mentoring until his first starring role in 1920. Although Keaton may now be known as "The Great Stone Face," these early comedies with Arbuckle often show the deadpan actor smiling and laughing, a rare sight after Keaton struck out on his own. This brilliant stone litho poster is in great shape for its age, and professional restoration has addressed small tears and chips at the bottom horizontal fold, a tear from the upper border into the image background, and has applied touchup to the folds. Very Fine- on Linen.
