    Description

The Beauties (Pathe', 1930). One Sheet (27" X 41"). Pathe had its beginnings in 1896 when the Pathe brothers, Charles and Emile, started a company to manufacture phonographs and kinetoscopes. After making improvements in cameras, they started producing films. They invented the newsreel in 1908, and with "The Perils of Pauline," the brothers entered the American market and set up operations in the U.S. After the end of WWI, they returned to France and eventually sold the U.S. production arm, which was later incorporated into RKO. This comedy short starring Ruth Hiatt was made shortly before RKO took over the company. This one sheet has light edge wear, fold wear with crossfold separation, separation along the lower fold with loss of paper, and light toning. Marvelous artwork of Hiatt and the other beauties. Fine+.
