Filmmaker Blake Edwards dives headlong with S.O.B. into a film about an acclaimed director faced with the first major flop of his career, something that was not too far off of Edward's own experiences with box office failure in the 1970s on such films as Darling Lili, The Carey Treatment, and Wild Rovers. This film industry satire struck deep in the hearts of critics both earning Razzies and Golden Globe nominations. The film since then has gained a cult following for its unwavering black satire and consistent comedy throughout. Artist John Alvin went for the literal with his Bull director wearing mirror sunglasses, smoking a cigar and sitting in a director's chair with a can of film and a bullhorn at his feet. The poster's simple "devil may care" smugness of the bull director is more telling about the type of film viewers will be getting themselves into than it lets on to be. Heritage is proud to auction for the first time this great John Alvin piece. The piece shows some light edge wear that may have occurred during the painting process and does not affect the image.
