    Description

Silent Comedy Short Subject Lot (Various, 1927). (2) One Sheets (27" X 41"). Offered in this lot are posters from two silent short subject comedy features. Both of these posters are rolled and never folded. They came from the collection of an apprentice at Morgan Litho from the mid to late twenties. The first poster is from an early western comedy, "Too Much Progress for Piperock" (1927) which was directed by W.C. Tuttle and starred two of Universal's silent era stars, Ben Corbett and Pee Wee Holmes. The second poster is entitled, "Horse Shoes" (1927) and starred Monty Banks, who was awarded a special Oscar in 1937 as "a discoverer of stars and his special contribution to the comedy technique of the screen." In 1917 Banks began Mack Sennett Comedies, and later Pathe' through which this short was released. "Too Much Progress for Piperock" has nicks, wrinkles, tears and stains in the borders. "Horse Shoes" has tears, stains and paper loss in the lower left corner. Both poster feature stunning stone lithography. Rolled, Good.
