    Description

Man on the Flying Trapeze (Paramount, 1935). One Sheet (27" X 41").
A first-time offer from Heritage, one sheets for this W.C. Fields classic are hard to come by, making this a noteworthy opportunity for comedy collectors. In true Fields fashion, an outpouring of increasing misfortune befalls the picture's henpecked hero throughout the film, with traffic tickets, a near-miss with an oncoming train, getting assaulted by a wrestler, and even getting arrested on a trumped-up charge. Not to mention the overreaching support of his enthusiastically compassionate colleagues, providing sympathy cards, wreathes, and a newspaper obituary for his not quite dead mother-in-law. This great poster with its vibrant image of the immediately recognizable Fields would be a eye-catching addition to any collection. Restoration has addressed pinholes in the lower corners, a sliver of paper loss in the upper right border, and applied touchup to the folds. The white background on the left side has been replaced down to the middle of the poster with a few cracks in the airbrushing. There are stains in the right border, pinholes in the upper corners, and two pinholes in Fields' image that are still visible. The image itself, however, shows almost no defects. Fine on Linen.
