    Mabel's Lovers (Keystone, 1912). Flat Folded, Fine/Very Fine. British One Sheet (30" X 40").
A first-time offering at Heritage, this lovely stone litho poster from Britain shows Mabel Normand at the beginning of her successful stint at Keystone Studios under the direction of Mack Sennett. Originally taken on as one of Sennett's "Bathing Beauties," Normand showed a great affinity for comedy and soon began performing opposite the likes of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin. In this Keystone comedy, Normand takes the screen as both a bathing beauty and a comedic star as she cleverly outwits the numerous suitors vying for her attentions. Of special note is that the film is a Mack Sennett remake of the 1909 short The Gibson Goddess, which was directed by D.W. Griffith under Biograph Studios. Mr. Sennett actually makes an appearance on this poster as well, rendered as the mustachioed gentleman on the right, looking like he has a case of the vapors! Signs of use one the poster include mild edge wear, slight fold wear and separations, soft creasing, and some minor chips and tears. Also visible are dust shadows and foxing in the borders.
