Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Only offered a rare handful of times before at Heritage, this brightly colored one sheet comes from what many consider to be the best screwball comedy ever made. The role of the spirited Susan Vance was almost tailor-made for Katharine Hepburn, and she plays the character with a riotous enthusiasm. Cary Grant, costarring with Hepburn for the second time, turns in an excellent performance as the mild mannered paleontologist to balance out Hepburn's mania. Despite the picture's current status as a top-ranking romantic comedy, the movie fell flat among audiences and sustained Hepburn's unfortunate title of "boxoffice poison." Just two years later, the two stars would reunite in the wildly popular Philadelphia Story, allowing Hepburn to shed her unjust moniker for the rest of her career. A highly desirable item among collectors of the classics, this one sheet has received corrections to fold wear and separations, pinholes, and a few small tears and chips. Still visible are paper lifts, corner bends, and some faint stains and smudges. Overall, however, the one sheet displays well thanks to its vibrant colors.
