    Description

A Night in Casablanca (United Artists, 1946). One Sheet (27" X 41"). "Play it again, Sam." Though never said in "Casablanca," the line did show up in this spoof of the Bogart and Bergman Oscar winner...And how the Marx Brothers did play it! This last true Marx Brothers film has Groucho taking over as manager of the Hotel Casablanca, a hotbed of Nazi spies and femme fatales. With the help of brothers Chico and Harpo, he foils the spies and recovers their stolen booty. The somewhat fanciful story goes that Groucho responded to a threatened lawsuit by Warner Bros. concerning the title by sending a letter challenging the right of the Warners to use "Brothers" in their name. "Professionally, we were brothers before they ever were." Just like Groucho, even if it was a publicity stunt! This one sheet has pinholes with small tears, light fold wear with an edge chip, and a small stain on the lower edge. The poster was professionally restored and mounted on linen, and other than the edge stain, has a brand new appearance. Wonderful caricature artwork of the three Marx Brothers dominates the poster, with a smaller image of Lois Collier. Very Fine- on Linen.
