    Description

A Day at the Races (MGM, 1937). Very Fine- on Linen. Argentinean One Sheet (29" X 43") Al Hirschfeld Artwork.
By the time the Marx Brothers left Paramount after Duck Soup, they were already major stars, having conquered both Broadway and the silver screen. Their subsequent move to MGM, and their all-too-brief association with director Irving Thalberg, resulted in two of the funniest pictures of their careers, A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. Thalberg died soon after shooting began on this picture, and many critics, as well as Groucho himself, thought that the Marx Brothers' films were never again quite as good. Restoration has corrected a corner chip in the upper left, a couple of tears, and slight fold wear. The imprint area has some airbrushing. With artwork by the famed Al Hirschfeld, this poster is a wonderful opportunity, not just for Marx Brothers collectors, but also for fans of Hirschfeld himself.
