Description

Bolero (Paramount, 1934). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
George Raft takes a break from his typical, tough-guy gangster roles in this Wesley Ruggles film and returns to his first showbiz career: dancing. His portrayal of a ruthlessly ambitious dancer pairs off nicely with Carole Lombard's charming performance as his partner and unrequited love interest, all capped off with some spectacular choreography created by the renowned ballroom dancers Veloz and Yolanda. Named after Maurice Ravel's "Bolero," the picture's big show stopping number, this film gave Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers a run for their money with its number of talented dance performances. In fact, it was such a big hit among theatre goers that it spawned a spirited sequel in 1935 called Rumba, again starring Raft and Lombard. Just as beautiful as the film's choreography, this richly colored stone litho illustration features stunning renderings of the leading man and lady, the first one sheet that Heritage has ever sold for the picture. In great shape, the poster has only a few pinholes in the corners and outer edge of the background, some pinpoint crossfold separations, and the upper right pinhole has a minor rust stain. There are soft vertical folds from when the poster was originally distributed. Folded, Very Fine.
