The Exiles (Fox, 1923). One Sheet (28" X 41").
Midway through his illustrious career and on the verge of his superstardom at MGM, John Gilbert here plays the role of a crusading district attorney, who secures a conviction for murder suspect Alice Carroll, played by Betty Bouton. The trouble is, Alice is innocent. Managing to escape, Alice heads to Tangiers, where she falls into the clutches of evil gambler Wilheim von Linke, played by John Webb Dillon. The story was loosely based on an adventure yarn by journalist Richard Harding Davis. Gilbert would rise to stardom at MGM Studios, and there act with and fall in love with Greta Garbo. Sadly, his life would end tragically 13 years after this film's release. Restoration has addressed fold wear, pinholes, and chips and small tears in the borders. There is unaddressed staining in the borders. The linen has been trimmed to the edges, but not into the poster itself. Fine+ on Linen.
