Sunrise (Fox, 1927). Promotional Foldout Poster (Folded: 11" X 15.25", Unfolded: 22" X 35") DS, Jochimsen Artwork. After his successful career in Germany with masterpieces such as Nosferatu and The Last Laugh, director F. W. Murnau would travel to Hollywood to create one of the most culturally significant films in motion picture history, Sunrise. George O'Brien, Janet Gaynor, and Margaret Livingston star in the moral tale of a married farmer lured by a city woman to contemplate murdering his wife. His journey of redemption with his wife is artistically portrayed, as well as heartbreaking. A cinematic tour de force, Murnau's film would earn three Academy Awards at the very first Awards ceremony in 1929, including Best Picture, and Unique and Artistic Production - the first and only time the award was ever presented. A Heritage first in a rare format not often seen, this foldout poster features a lovely portrait of O'Brien and Gaynor on the front when it is folded. It then shows bits of promotional information as it is unfolded, culminating in a bevy of pictures and reviews that covers the sheet when it is fully spread out. This poster has only mild signs of handling like slight fold wear and separation, light creases, minor tears, and a couple of unobtrusive stains. Folded, Very Fine.
