Description

Casablanca (Warner Brothers, 1947). First Post-War Release French Grande (46.5" X 63.25") Pierre Pigeot Artwork.
Extremely scarce and equally desirable, this the first original release French grande Heritage has ever had the happy opportunity to offer. Only a handful of other copies of this fabulous poster are known to exist, making this a rare opportunity for aficionados of Michael Curtiz's influential drama. Ranked as the number three film of all time in the American Film Institute's 2007 poll, Casablanca is certainly a classic, loved by film fans everywhere. American expatriate Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) runs the top night spot in Casablanca during the early years of WWII, but gets more than he bargained for when a European resistance fighter comes to town, with Rick's old flame (Ingrid Bergman) in tow. Aptly atmospheric artwork by Pierre Pigeot graces this French poster, with the striking Bergman in profile. Similar to the smaller French moyennes we have offered before, this grande advertises for the superior 35 mm version of the film, and has an image that is much more subtle in color. A phenomenal poster, it has had touchup to the folds and pinholes in the borders and background. The upper right corner had a tear and a small chip at the top. Still visible is a faint stain in the upper left corner, but this does not at all affect the beautiful illustration within. The colors on the poster do have some amount of fading. Fine+ on Linen.
