Watching Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard play off each other with snappy dialogue and a terrific mixture of comedy and fear as they rummage through an old haunted house, is pure entertainment. In the second of their two ghost films together, after the successful The Cat and the Canary (1939), Goddard plays an heiress who is traveling to Cuba to take possession of her old, creepy, inherited estate. She encounters radio personality Lawrence Lawrence (Hope) and his servant Willie Best along the way who help her sort out the host of killers and zombies (Anthony Quinn, Noble Johnson, and Virginia Brissac) who want her out of the way.
