Anna Christie (First National, 1923). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The first filming of Eugene O'Neill's play starring beautiful Blanche Sweet. One of the unsung film pioneers, Sweet was in on the ground floor of film, beginning in 1909 at the Edison Studio at the age of fourteen. When she moved to American Biograph she became famous as "The Biograph Blonde" as film performers at that time were not given poster credit. This is a beautiful stone lithograph with Sweet in a pretty clinch scene with co-star William Russell. She has just confessed to being a streetwalker earlier in life. Great unfaded color and original condition with only a few border pinholes, slight edge wear, a date stamp at the top, minor crossfold separation, small border tears, and a small chip in the top border. Minor distractions on a truly romantic vintage piece. Fine+.
