The winner of the Best Picture Academy Award, Luise Rainer also won the first of her two Oscars for this fictionalized three-hour epic about the great showman Florenz Ziegfeld. William Powell has the title role, a smooth-talking impresario who convinces a European stage actress (Rainer) to appear in his new "Follies" show. The film looked as if it would be beyond the scope of Universal Studios finances at the time, so they sold the rights to MGM for $300,000. The film would ultimately cost MGM $2 million to produce, a huge sum for that day - but it would earn over $40 million! This colorful insert has light foxing, and soiling in the borders, a small tear in the right border, and some creasing in the top right corner. We have never sold this glorious insert before and this rolled copy is fantastic. Rolled, Very Fine.
