Science fiction forever changed when Klaatu descended to earth with a warning for mankind. Twenty years before Marshall McLuhan, the alien recognized that the medium is the message for this planet, so in order to impart the threat mankind poses to itself, he and his robot Gort must first threaten mankind. Robert Wise (an editor for Orson Welles who became a fine director in his own right) directs this classic that instilled within the genre a political subtext that reflected the anxieties of post-WWII America. Panic pervades the one sheet too, from the screams of Patricia Neal to the scattered masses below Gort's foot. This scarce one sheet prior to restoration had the borders trimmed and has some fold wear and some slight sun fading.
