Michael Rennie's "Klaatu" was an alien who wanted little except to save us from ourselves. His portrayal was so effective and compassionate that in the end he appeared more human than the earthlings. The image of Gort with his laser death ray blasting the puny army below while grasping the screaming blonde sold as many tickets as any poster ever printed. There was pinpoint crossfold separation, and a small chip at the bottom left border only, all addressed in the conservation process. Robert Wise directed this classic film which changed the way we've viewed science fiction ever since. Very Fine on Linen.
