Out of the Past (RKO, R-1953). One Sheet (27" X 41").
When RKO reissued noir favorite Out of the Past in 1953, they shifted the campaign from the dark shadow filled imagery of a rough and tumble Mitchum with cigarette dangling disdainfully from his lips, to a "Shock Story of a Crime Filled Romance," featuring a much calmer Mitchum sans cigarette. Most collectors want to have both images, since they illustrate totally different publicity angles for this great film. At the bottom of the original one sheet, Fleming and Douglas are locked in a fervent kiss, but in the reissue she is spurning him! There are enlarged pinholes in the top border with one small one in the left background, and minor cross-fold separations with a minor bleed through in the credit area from the NSS stamp on the reverse. If you have the first issue, here's your chance to complete the title with a one sheet that's become as hard to find as the original. Very Fine-.
