What a simply great film poster. Its design is as successful as the incredible film itself. Gloria Swanson glares maniacally at the young lovers, William Holden and Nancy Olson. Her arched stare from the rageful red backdrop is as frightening a visage as any sci-if/ horror film...and she did it with simple acting talent. Her monster has no prosthetics, no rubber suit, and no CGI. If you want a true cornerstone film poster, consider the real scarcity of this style B half sheet with the symbolic celluloid title background twisted in a knot just as Swanson's legendary character, Norma Desmond...no longer able to "run through the projector." But it gets even better...Gloria Swanson herself autographed the piece in a large, bold signature. The signature reads: "To Richard Moore, Greetings and Joy, Gloria Swanson, 1980." There are only minor distractions. There is a mild stain in the bottom border, a faint dust shadow in the top edge, a small tear in the right and top border, a small chip in the top right corner, and a tiny bend in the lower left corner. We've never seen another poster for this classic film noir signed by the star herself. Folded, Fine+.
