One of the greatest detective writers of all time, Raymond Chandler, started writing in the early 1930s beginning with pulp fiction and had his first novel published in 1939, which soon became an unforgettable classic -- The Big Sleep. The film version, directed by the great Howard Hawks, is considered one of the top film noirs of the era and stars movie legends Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. The convoluted plot, which is nearly impossible to follow, just adds to the fun, as Philip Marlowe juggles bad girls Bacall and Martha Vickers, a lineup of thugs, and a series of disappearances and murders. This stunning and rare Italian poster features artwork by Luigi Martinati and has been professionally restored. It had three areas of missing paper and tears along the right border, and chips along the left border. There was fold wear with chips, and an area of missing paper in the lower right corner including the Warner Brothers logo and part of the title. Professional restoration has repaired all of these issues, leaving this poster a truly top prize. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
