Gone with the Wind (MGM, 1939). Pressbook (Multiple Pages) (17" X 19"). Academy Award Winners.
This lot includes two original pressbook covers, and an amazing 50 page oversize campaign manual that so defined the term "exploitation" in terms of film advertising, that its contents are still being studied today. Every imaginable facet of American life was tied in some way to the selling of this landmark picture; from hats, dresses, scarves, bowties, chocolates, dolls, even nail polish!. Also included is an eight page "Advertising" section of display ads marked "Section One." Starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, Thomas Mitchell, Barbara O'Neil, Evelyn Keyes, Ann Rutherford, George Reeves, Hattie McDaniel, Butterfly McQueen, and Victor Jory. Directed by Victor Fleming. The advertising section and the exploitation manual have no cuts and only minor edge wear with corner creases and small tears. The pressbook campaign covers have cuts in one front cover and both back covers. One is slightly faded. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Good+.
