Description
The Bride of Frankenstein (Universal, March 2, 1935). Magazine (8" X 10.5").Horror.
After Universal's incredible success in 1931 with Frankenstein, based on Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's original novel "Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus," the sequel Bride of Frankenstein was very much anticipated, and the ad and poster campaign by Universal was immense. Colin Clive and Boris Karloff recreate their earlier roles, and Elsa Lanchester is the woman who dared take on the horrifying role of the monster's bride. Inside this magazine is a never before seen, black and white full page ad for James Whale's masterpiece. The artwork which features an extremely glamorous Lanchester and a very detailed image of her groom, is by the artist Kulz. There is also a smaller article entitled "Rushing Bride of Frankenstein," about the last minute details of the filming. The release date for the film was April, just a month after the printing of this rare magazine. Other important films featured inside are: It Happened in New York, Mr. Dynamite, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, The Good Fairy and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. An unrestored magazine with bright color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as edge wear, or very minor tears. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Fine-.
