King Kong (RKO, 1933). Production Drawing by Mario Larrinaga (4.25" X 5.5"). Horror. Starring Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong, Bruce Cabot, and Frank Reicher. Directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack. An unrestored drawing with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. It may have tears, slight paper loss, minor stains, and/or some fold separation. This "Spider Pit Sequence" pencil drawing was done by artist Mario Larrinaga, who also worked on the background paintings for the animation sequences of the film. This scene of the crew trying to escape the spider and snakes was used in the pre-production test reel. Larrinaga's spectacular drawings are shown throughout the 1975 book "The Making of King Kong." This rare and wonderful image comes with the 1980 auction notes from Collectors Showcase of Hollywood, CA. Fine+.
