2001: A Space Odyssey (MGM, 1968). Lenticular Postcard (4.25" X 5.75"). Science Fiction.
This rare lenticular postcard was created as a promotional item for Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece. Lenticular technology was making a comeback in the mid-1960s and "2001" was one of the only films to use this creative three-dimensional technology in a major ad campaign. This lenticular image was printed by Toppan (which were known for their fine lenses) in Japan, and was used in the Cinerama release of the film. Starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester, Daniel Richter, Leonard Rossiter, Margaret Tyzack, and Douglas Rain. Directed by Stanley Kubrick. An unrestored poster that appears virtually unused. Closer inspection may reveal one or two minor flaws, such as small corner bumps, or light edge wear.
