The Thin Man (MGM, 1934). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). William Powell and Myrna Loy made their first appearance as Nick and Nora Charles in this detective thriller from novelist Dashiell Hammett. The title made a lasting impression on the public and the sequels would employ the "thin man" in their titles as well, even though the "thin man" was the murder victim in the first film and had nothing to do with any of the sequels! Posters for this title are exceptionally scarce and always in high demand with collectors. The last time one became available, it sold for over $17,000. As a note of interest, the other style half sheet depicts Maureen O'Sullivan, and Myrna Loy is not shown. The poster has airbrush work done to the borders to repair tiny chips off of the corners and the upper and the lower centers of the border. The fold lines have also had some minor color touch done. Overall, these imperfections are fairly minor and the poster now has a very bright and clean appearance. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
