The Big Sleep (Warner Brothers, 1946). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) is hired by General Sternwood to protect his younger daughter Carmen (Martha Vickers) from blackmail. Vivian (Lauren Bacall), the older daughter, is not too pleased by the prospect of a detective nosing in the family's business. The mix of twists, false clues and murder that Marlowe comes across in the course of the investigation makes this film one of the most confusing, and at the same time, classiest detective thrillers ever made. The upper panel of this three sheet has only some minor pinholes, fold separations and creases. The lower panel has some pinholes, chips and stains. All these flaws have been professionally restored. There are shadowed letters that can be seen in the lower credits. Beautiful artwork of the two stars, with a large headshot of Bogie and a full-length image of Bacall. An excellent piece from this great Warner Brothers' title. Very Fine on Linen.
