Pinocchio (RKO, 1940). Poster (40" X 60"). This fabulous poster is from the original release of the classic Walt Disney animated film in which the gentle woodcarver Geppetto builds a wooden puppet to be his son, and gets his wish when a benevolent fairy brings the toy to life. This is a rarity that has not been seen since its use at the premiere of "Pinocchio" at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. The Disney archives has reportedly verified the poster as being either the same one used or similar to that made for the premiere. The poster is not shown in the press book but was most likely used in only the more prestigious theaters. This is the first time that this incredibly rare 40" X 60" has ever come to auction. Prior to linen-backing, the poster was folded and had minor cracks and tears. The borders have been airbrushed and there has been minor color touch to the folds, and the poster now displays beautifully. Very Fine- on Linen.
