Awful Truth (Columbia, 1937).
Window Card (14" X 22"). Considered one of the all-time great screwball comedies, this poster comes from director Leo McCarey's wonderful high society screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne. The storyline surrounds the efforts of both of our recently divorced heroes to undermine the others remarriage. Very Fine.

Topper (MGM, 1937).
Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Constance Bennett and Cary Grant star in this classic screwball comedy about a pair of ghosts who decide a stuffy banker (Cosmo Topper) needs a makeover. Without a doubt, this is one of the best screwball comedies to emerge from the 1930's. This is an exciting entry for this auction as original lobbies are almost nonexistent and this title card is the first we've seen available in many years. The card exhibits light foxing and smudging in the white areas and one pinhole per corner. Fine+.

Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938)
Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant star in this classic screwball comedy from director Howard Hawks. When Hepburn is left to care for her aunt's leopard "Baby", he escapes and gets confused with a mad-killer leopard that also escaped from a traveling circus. Without a doubt, this is one of the best screwball comedies ever made. The card has one staple mark in each of the right corners, one pin-hole in the lower border and one in the interior of the card, in the photographic image of Hepburn's shoulder and one in the yellow background on the far right. It also has some light creasing in the lower left border and corner and has a dark smudge in Hepburn's credit and a light smudge on Grants cheek. Although all of these defects sound obtrusive, they are very minor and don't affect the overall beauty of this rare card. Very Fine+.

Some Like It Hot (United Artists, 1959).
Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Director Billy Wilder's screwball comedy about two down-on-their-luck musicians on the run from the mob is a delight in every way. And of course, Marilyn Monroe warms up the screen like no one before or since with her rendition of "I Wanna Be Loved By You." This film was voted the top comedy film of all time by the American Film Institute. Fine/Very Fine.

Carefree (RKO, 1938)
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire made their entry into the "screwball comedy" genre with this film that focuses more on comedy and less on singing and dancing. Here it seems that Ginger is hypnotized by psychiatrist Astaire because she can't make up her mind about marrying Astaire's friend, Ralph Bellamy. The treatment misfires however when Ginger falls for Fred instead of poor Ralph. There are multiple pinholes in the corners and borders, fold line wear, small scattered holes throughout the graphics, several tears (some longer), and small areas of paper loss on the borders. The poster has been restored, minimizing these defects. Very Good+ on Linen.

Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Following the success of "Sylvia Scarlett" (1936), RKO once again paired Kathryn Hepburn and Cary Grant in this frantic paced screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks. Considered by many to be the first and best of the screwball comedy genre, this film, with its absurd antics and zany pratfalls, showcased Hepburn and Grant's silver screen magic. This one sheet is in marvelous condition with a few minor fold tears and a small tear with no missing paper on the right border. Very Fine.

Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938)
Danish Poster (24.5" X 33"). Following the success of "Sylvia Scarlett" (1936), RKO once again paired Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant in this frantic paced screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks. Considered by many to be the first and best of the screwball comedy genre, this film, with its absurd antics and zany pratfalls, showcased Hepburn and Grant's silver screen magic. There is just a slight amount of wear at the crossfolds and pinholes in each corner. The poster has had professional restoration to touch up these minor imperfections. There is also a rubber stamp on the bottom of the poster that is dated 1941-1942, perhaps as to when it was received by the overseas exchange. This stylish Danish poster features a wonderful image of Hepburn and Grant in one of their most popular roles. Very Fine+ on Linen.
