Alibi Ike (Warner Brothers, 1935).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). "Alibi Ike" was the most successful film of Joe E. Brown's "baseball trilogy" -- the other two were "Elmer the Great" and "Fireman Save My Child" -- and one of the greatest baseball comedies in cinema history. Brown portrays an ace ballplayer who has a ready excuse for every circumstance that comes along, which earns him the nickname of "Alibi Ike." His alibiing habit soon gets him in trouble, however, when he falls in love with Olivia de Havilland and she walks out on him. Despondent, Brown goes into a slump, and is approached by a group of shady gamblers who try to get him to throw the World Series. The climatic finale has Brown escaping the gamblers and redeeming himself during the final game of the series. This poster has slight separation at the fold line intersections, pinholes in the corners, and one pinhole in Brown's collar. This rare one sheet has always had a tremendous appeal to baseball fans and cinema collectors alike. Very Fine.

Golf with Johnny Farrell (Pathe', 1930).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Johnny Farrell won the U.S. Open in 1928 by beating Bobby Jones in a 36-hole playoff at Olympia Fields. He was voted 1927 and 1928 Best Golf Professional in the United States after a winning streak of six consecutive tournaments. Throughout the 1920s, Farrell was a noted golf celebrity who toured the country giving golf expositions. Pathe made a series of instructional golf film shorts starring Farrell that were played before the feature film in movie theatres around the country. This poster has fold line wear with a touch of paper loss at the fold line intersections. The poster has been professionally restored, rendering these defects very hard to detect. Very Fine+ on Linen.

The Endless Summer (Cinema V, 1966).
(40" X 60") Poster. Director Bruce Brown had been making films about surfing since the late 1950s but this feature was the first of his productions to receive national exposure. The theme of the movie was pure 1960s. Brown proposed if someone had enough time and money they could literally follow the summer around the globe and that's what he and two friends did, catching waves in Africa, Hawaii, Australia, Tahiti and other exotic locations around the globe. The artwork for "Endless Summer" was done by legendary artist John Van Hamersveld who epitomized the "cultural wave" of the 1960s. Van Hemersveld has signed in pencil at the bottom of the poster, "To The Surf World John Van Hemersveld." Rolled, Fine.

Babe Ruth Baseball Lot (Allied Artists, 1948).
Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14"), Letter (8.5" X 11") and Program (8.5" X 11"). Offered in this lot are four items pertaining to the great Babe Ruth and his appearance in films. When Ruth retired from baseball in 1935, he was already a legend and the public clamored for more. The first two items are from "The Babe Ruth Story," a portrait lobby and a program. The program is fantastic, giving Ruth's batting and pitching records as well as several pictures of Ruth, who served as a technical advisor, giving Bendix batting lessons. The next item is a lobby card from the 1949 reissue of "The Pride Of The Yankees," the inspiring baseball biopic of the great Lou Gehrig, in which the Babe appeared as himself. The fourth item is a letter from First National Pictures, Inc., and is written on "Babe Comes Home" stationary dated June 16, 1927, the same time as the films release. The "The Pride Of The Yankees" lobby card has pinholes in the corners, and the letter has two punch holes, otherwise the material is in great condition. Very Fine+. (Total: 4 items)

The Kid From Cleveland (Republic, 1949).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). This "bad-boy turns good because of baseball" feature starred the entire 1948 Cleveland Indians baseball team, and a young Russ Tamblyn as the troubled teen befriended by the players. Bill Veeck, Lou Boudreau, Coach Tris Speaker, and the rest of the team were paid nothing to appear in the film. Instead, a percentage of future profits brought the team on board for the production. The one sheet has some missing paper at the center fold, and various pinholes and fold tears, but otherwise is in good shape. Fine-.

The film includes clips of several football legends including Roy Riegels, Howard Jones, Russ Saunders, and the legendary Jim Thorpe. Bobby Shantz (RKO, 1952).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Little Bobby Shantz stood only 5'6" and weighed 139 pounds when he made his major league debut, winning a 13-inning game in relief, pitching nine hitless innings while only giving up one run and two hits. Shantz would go on to play 16 years in the majors. His best year was 1952 with a win-loss record of 24-7 that won him the honors of MVP for the league, a feat he accomplished while playing on a fifth-place team. Ted Williams often said Shantz had the best curveball he had ever seen. This poster has light smudge marks and a touch of separation at the fold line intersections. Here's an opportunity to acquire a rare one sheet featuring one of baseball's best. Very Fine/Near Mint.

The Caddy (Paramount, 1953).
Lobby Card Set (8) (11" X 14"). Harvey Miller (Jerry Lewis) is an expert with his golf clubs, except when he tries to play in front of a crowd, at which point he completely loses control. Then Harvey meets Joe Anthony (Dean Martin) and teaches him everything he knows about the game, and when Joe enters a tournament, Harvey goes along as his caddy. Joe's talents continue to grow, resulting in tension and laughs as the two egos compete. This film introduced Martin's classic song "That's Amore," and features a host of real life professional golfers in cameo roles -- including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, and Julius Boros, all of whom appear on the cards. The lobby cards have pinholes in the corners, a triangular censor stamp in the bottom left corner, smudges, and minor stains. Fine/Very Fine. (Total: 8 pieces)

One Sheet (27" X 41"). Hall-Of-Famer Casey Stengal's professional career spanned 54 years. Although a good player, Stengal is best remembered for his outstanding accomplishments as a manager. In a 12-year stretch, Stengal guided the Yankees to 10 pennants and seven world titles. This poster has a minor border stain on the upper left corner and a small border chip on the lower right border. These minor defects do not distract from the appearance, and the poster displays very well. Very Fine+.

Liston vs Patterson (Allied Artists, 1963).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Ex-con Sonny Liston was an extremely hard-hitting heavyweight who could knock out a fighter with either hand. After he left prison, Liston turned pro in 1953 and rapidly ascended the heavyweight ranks, leaving a stream of knockout victims in his wake. Liston became the heavyweight champion of the world on September 25, 1962, by annihilating reigning champ Floyd Patterson in one round. Patterson would suffer the same fate in a rematch 10 months later. This poster is from the theater-released replay of their second fight. Very Fine+.

Safe at Home (Columbia, 1962).
Title Card (11" X 14"). This film was released in April of 1962 to take advantage of the new baseball season and the enthusiasm surrounding the New York Yankees' Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Their home run race during the 1961 season captured the attention of the media and the nation. They became the most terrifying tandem of power in the history of the game, combining for an unprecedented 115 home runs in one season. Both players are featured on this title card that would be a prize addition to any baseball or Yankees fan collection! Multiple pinholes, primarily to the upper corners, does not distract from this attractive card. Very Fine-.
