The Mummy's Ghost (Universal, 1944)
Insert (14" X 36"). John Carradine, as an Egyptian high priest, travels to America to reclaim the soul of Princess Anaka and her guardian, the Mummy. Lon Chaney reprises his role as the stalking terror of the sands and adds depth to the character for the first time. This insert is rolled and we can honestly say that it must be one of the nicest copies in existence. From the Collection of Johnny Ramone. Near Mint/Mint.

Betty Boop with Henry (Paramount, 1935).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Max and Dave Fleischer began their career in animation shortly after World War I as chief rivals to Walt Disney at Columbia and United Artists. Under the banner of Paramount, they created a number of characters, including Popeye and Betty Boop. Before the Hayes Commission came into power, Betty was the symbol of the flapper era, wearing short skirts with garters showing. After the Hayes Commission, Betty, like the rest of Hollywood, was censored and she began to be drawn with longer skirts! Owning a Betty Boop One Sheet is one of the pinnacles of collecting animation posters. Very few are known to exist, especially in this unrestored Near Mint condition.

| Lot: 19186 | Nov 18, 2004
Sold For:
$9,775.00
Cocoanuts (Paramount, 1929).
Autographed Still (8" X 10"). Shelby Chapman was the sound mixer on the Marx Brothers' first film for Paramount, shot at their Long Island Studios in 1929. Offered here is a very rare autographed sepia toned still signed by all four brothers. It is inscribed at the top in Harpo's hand "The Best 'Chap' we know." Signed "Zeppo Marx," "How's the sound? Best Wishes, Groucho," "Ray Cozuie! Chico," and "Harpo." Rarely do photos appear that have all of the brothers signatures together as Zeppo left the team in their move to MGM in 1935. This may be one of the few existing photos if not only photo that was signed on the set of their first film. Accompanied by COA from PSA/DNA. The photo has had an area of two inches by two inches in Zeppo's and Groucho's waist and legs restored where there was slight surface damage. Fine-.

Bringing Up Baby (RKO, 1938).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Following the success of "Sylvia Scarlett" (1936), RKO once again paired Kathryn Hepburn and Cary Grant in this frantic paced screwball comedy directed by Howard Hawks. Considered by many to be the first and best of the screwball comedy genre, this film, with its absurd antics and zany pratfalls, showcased Hepburn and Grant's silver screen magic. This one sheet is in marvelous condition with a few minor fold tears and a small tear with no missing paper on the right border. Very Fine.
Auction 603
| Lot: 16463 | Jul 17, 2004
Sold For:
$9,775.00
The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941).
Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). "Even a man who is pure at heart, and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright." Movie legend tells us that this was a real gypsy curse used in toto for the screenplay. In actuality, writer Curt Siodmak said he came up with the jingle while writing the original script. A Universal horror classic, "The Wolfman," stars Lon Chaney as the tormented soul who transforms into a vicious killer beast at the hint of a full moon and Claude Raines plays his aristocratic English father. Universal horror Title Cards are extremely rare and this is one of the most highly prized cards in the genre. Very Fine.
Auction 601
| Lot: 16199 | Mar 17, 2004
Sold For:
$9,775.00
Tarzan and His Mate (MGM, 1934).
One Sheet Style A (27" X 41"). This was the second film in the MGM Tarzan series and is considered by most Tarzan enthusiasts to be the best. This film was also the only one in which Jane wore bikini-like attire (and no attire at all during the now famous skinny dipping scene), which raised the eyebrows of women's groups everywhere as well as the heartbeats of young teenage boys. Irving Thalberg, head of production at MGM, insisted on sparing no expense on the Tarzan series with Johnny Weismuller. Thus the first two films cost approximately one million dollars each to produce, an astounding sum during the height of the depression. Fine/Very Fine.

Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951).
Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Robert Wise's classic science-fiction epic is still the standard to which all other sci-fi films are compared! In this story, way ahead of it's time, the film explores the issue of what would man do if suddenly confronted by an alien race far superior to our own. Michael Rennie stars as the alien Klaatu who comes to earth with a message. He's accompanied by one of the greatest robots in the history of the cinema, Gort! This beautiful Half Sheet features both Rennie and Gort as they step out of their flying saucer! Folded, Very Fine+.

| Lot: 1262 | Nov 23, 2003
Sold For:
$9,775.00
One A.M. (Mutual, 1916).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Chaplin began his film career with Mack Sennet's Keystone Films, and moved from there to Essanay. By 1916 when he made his move to Mutual and began his series of films that many feel showed his true comedic genius, he was at the peak of his craft. This short 1916 film, is a twenty-minute comic masterpiece as Chaplin arrives home in an inebriated state and staggers into, out of and through the house in one confrontation after another with his house. This is one of two known copies of the one sheet for this short film and this one in reportedly the better condition. The other copy sold in 2001 for well over $15,000. Very Fine on Linen.
Auction 806
| Lot: 4308 | Mar 9, 2003
Sold For:
$9,775.00
Tarzan the Ape Man (MGM, 1932).
Insert (14" X 36"). Johnny Weissmuller, a 28 year old Olympic gold medalist made his debut as Tarzan in this lavish M-G-M production, after being spotted by the films screenwriter at his hotel swimming pool. This was the first pairing of Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan in the roles they would be remembered by for the rest of their lives. The posters for this first of the M-G-M series are exceedingly difficult to find. This poster is adorned with wonderful art deco lettering and the sparse image of the ape man swinging through the trees with the shadow of a giant ape behind him. Bright colors, rolled and unrestored in any way makes this beautiful insert a cornerstone in any collection. Very Fine.

It Happened One Night (Columbia, 1934).
Insert (14" X 36") It swept the Oscars in the year of it's release, the first time for one film to take all the major awards. It was a runaway success and established Frank Capra's career for the next 30 years. This is one of the golden comedies from the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, and this is the only known insert for this film! All of the posters for this film are very scarce but this may be one of the rarest inserts known. Beautiful images of Gable and Colbert. Very Good+ on Paper.

Dark Victory (Warner Brothers, 1939).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). This soaper has long been held as a favorite among Bette Davis fans. Davis gives an outstanding performance as a woman who is stricken with a brain tumor, and must pursue all the happiness she can in the short time she has left. This glorious one-sheet, as well as all paper from this title, is rare. This copy may be in the best condition known to exist. Near Mint.
