Barnsdale Moving Pictures (Barnsdale, 1905).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). In the early 1900s Walter Barnsdale started a "traveling moving picture show" company that played at carnivals and circuses. Showcasing more than 100 reels of old-time feature films and some of the best lighting equipment available (run by an electric generator), Barnsdale brought the show to people who couldn't get to the city. Several members of his family joined the circus circuit, including Walter's son Frank, who was a midget that liked to dress in a Revolutionary War uniform for his act. When electricity became more widespread, the "traveling moving picture show" declined. However Frank's son was discovered by the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus and soon became their biggest star, touring the world as the celebrated "Colonel Tom Thumb." Here is a rare opportunity to aquire a historical piece of motion picture history. Fine/Very Fine.

The Greatest of These (Universal, 1914).
One Sheet (27" X 41"). Alec B. Francis spent the early part of his professional career as a barrister before switched to acting in the 1890s. He made his first films for the Vitagraph Company in 1911 and from there went on to play a variety of roles, usually in middle-aged character parts or as a wise old man. Later he would play such characters as Mr. Brownlow in the 1933 version of "Oliver Twist," and the King of Hearts in that same year's production of "Alice in Wonderland." Featured here is a gorgeous stone litho from one of his early silent era films, that shows Francis being haunted by the ghost of a beautiful woman. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
