Heritage's November Movie Poster Auction is Best Yet!

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers (HG&A) will present its latest Movie Poster Signature Auction on November 11 & 12, 2005, in Dallas, Texas.

"This is a very exciting auction," said Grey Smith, Director of Movie Poster Auctions for HG&A, "headlined by a truly unique collection of movie paper featuring Humphrey Bogart, named the Number One Star in Hollywood history by the American Film Institute. If you're a fan of Bogart - and who isn't? - there's something here for you, from a US lobby card from The Petrified Forest, the film that made Bogart a star, and a rare country-of-origin British one-sheet from The African Queen, for which Bogart won the Best Actor Oscar in 1952, to the extremely desirable US one-sheet for Casablanca, and the beautiful French Grande from The Maltese Falcon. There's both US and international paper in this collection, which is one of the best archives devoted to a single star I've ever seen."

"Of course, it's not all about Bogart," Smith continued. "We're also offering a spectacular one-sheet to the legendary Douglas Fairbank's film, The Thief of Baghdad, as well as a one-sheet to The Mark of Zorro, the film that turned Fairbanks from a comedy headliner into a swashbuckling star. Silent film fans are going to be speechless when they see the selection of pre-sound material in this auction."

"Horror and sci-fi fans haven't been forgotten, of course," said Smith. "Our large selection of marvelous monster material is crowned by the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla, with a rare and beautiful Japanese Style B2 one-sheet from his debut release. The last time we offered a country-of-origin poster from this seminal film - the much more familiar Style A one-sheet - it sold for over $21,000! This style is far rarer, so kaiju fans are going to go absolutely wild over it!"

"I'd also like to point out some of the excellent paper from the golden Age of Animation that we're featuring in this auction, including one-sheets from such classic cartoons as The Wayward Canary, starring Mickey Mouse, and Alice the Peacemaker, an early Disney effort that mixed live-action with animation."

"All in all, this has shaped up to become our best auction yet," said Smith, "and I hope that movie poster enthusiasts will consider joining us live in Dallas on November 11th for this exciting event."
