"Wings" One-Sheet to be Offered by Heritage!

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Vintage Movie Posters (HVMP) will offer a rare one-sheet for the movie "Wings," the film that won the first Academy Award for Best Picture in 1929, in their upcoming Signature Auction, to be held July 15, 2005, in Dallas, Texas.

"This is the 'Style C' one-sheet," said Grey Smith, Director of HVMP, "which is a stunning art deco portrait of stars Clara Bow, the famous 'It Girl,' and Charles 'Buddy' Rogers. The film, directed by William Wellman, which also starred a young Gary Cooper in a pivotal role, is the story of two World War I aviators stationed in France with the Army Air Corp who both fall in love with the same girl."

"This poster, and the film it represents, are significant for several reasons," Smith continued. "First of all, 'Wings' was the film that won the very first Academy Award for Best Picture of 1927/28. It is also the only silent film ever to win that coveted prize. Posters for this landmark film are virtually non-existent, and are avidly sought by collectors, not only for their historical value, but also for their intrinsic beauty. Making this particular piece even more spectacular and desirable is that this gorgeous stone litho poster is completely unrestored and in wonderful condition."

This poster carries a pre-auction estimate of $10,000 - $12,000.
