Description

Batman (20th Century Fox, 1966). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Day-Glo British Quad (30" X 40").
Step into the vivid day-glo charm of this British quad for the 1966 Batman film, a beloved slice of retro cinema that brought the caped crusader (Adam West) and his trusty sidekick Robin (Burt Ward) to life in dazzling color under the direction of Leslie H. Martinson. Bursting with vibrant hues, groovy tunes, and the signature camp of the swinging '60s, the film captured the playful spirit of the TV series while pitting Batman and Robin against a rogues' gallery including Catwoman (Lee Meriwether), The Joker (Cesar Romero), The Penguin (Burgess Meredith), and The Riddler (Frank Gorshin). This poster, rich with imagery and exuberant energy, showcases West and Ward in all their costumed glory, perfectly embodying the era's comic book pastiche. A coveted piece of cinema history, this British quad remains a compelling tribute to a time when superhero storytelling embraced flamboyance, fun, and flair. Beautifully restored, light touchup and airbrushing has corrected a few flaws, including light edge wear, creases, a few stains, and a tear that reaches through the "W" as well as partially into the "H" of "Wham!" A few small border tears remain visible.
