Description
The Song of Songs (Paramount, 1933). Fine+ on Paper. Pre-War Belgian (24" X 33").Directed by Rouben Mamoulian and starring Marlene Dietrich, the film tells the story of Lily Czepanek, a naive young woman who becomes the muse of a sculptor and later faces the moral and emotional consequences of love, and betrayal. Known for its sensual tone and elegant visual style, the film showcases Dietrich's transition from her collaborations with Josef von Sternberg to other directors. Backed to paper, restoration has addressed wear, splits and chips to the folds, with minute splits to the edges and some creasing. Most of this restoration was handled well, but some issues remain visible. A first time offering at Heritage.
