Sebastiane (PAC, 1977). Folded, Very Fine. Italian 2 - Fogli (39.5" X 55").
Released in 1976, Sebastiane was among the first British films to depict male nudity and homoeroticism explicitly. It boldly addressed topics such as homophobia, religious persecution, and unrequited love, showcasing the complexity of gay life and desire. Moreover, it showcased Saint Sebastian, often depicted as a gay icon in art, in a distinctly LGBTQIA+ narrative, further pushing boundaries. Co-directed by the openly gay filmmaker Derek Jarman, Sebastiane is lauded for its audacity, artistic merit, and significant role in furthering the narrative of queer representation in film.
