During World War I, children played a vital role in supporting the U.S. by purchasing war savings stamps, and this poster, featuring Uncle Sam offering stamps to children, encouraged their participation. Once a stamp book was filled, it could be exchanged for a $5 War Savings Certificate Stamp, much like Liberty Loan war bonds, providing interest and motivating children to invest in the war effort. This lot contains two examples of this poster, both of which exhibit creases, edge toning, and edge nicks. The Boston Collection.
