Description

Belle Starr (20th Century Fox, 1941). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
Belle Starr is a stylized Western romance that mythologizes the life of the notorious outlaw, with Gene Tierney bringing both charm and steel to the title role. When Belle Shirley, the daughter of a Southern aristocrat, has her land seized by Union forces during the Civil War, she relocates to Missouri and marries Confederate guerrilla leader Sam Starr (Randolph Scott); together, they embark on a series of daring raids that turn them into legendary outlaws. Lavishly produced by 20th Century Fox, the film blends frontier drama with wartime patriotism, framing Starr as a rebellious heroine shaped by loss and driven by vengeance. Unrestored apart from its linen-backing, indications of use include light edge and fold wear, slight creases, a few smudges/scuffs, mostly small border tears, minor stains, light toning and image ghosting, think blue ink markings at the center crossfold, and a couple of noticeable tears along the center horizontal fold that are being braced by strips of cellophane tape on the recto. Additionally, the linen has been trimmed to the borders.
