Description

The New Frontier (Republic, 1935). Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41.5").
When Monogram Studios merged with Lone Star Productions and several other companies to form Republic Studios in 1935, John Wayne emerged as one of the key stars to help launch the new studio. This Western marked Wayne's second film with Republic (following Westward Ho), and he would remain a central figure there until the early 1950s. Republic quickly gained a reputation for producing some of the most visually striking posters and lobby cards of the era, and this exceptionally rare one sheet is a prime example, featuring a stunning, full two-thirds portrait of a smiling Wayne, along with a dynamic scene including Wayne, Warner Richmond, and Al Bridge. It stands as one of the finest images of Wayne available on any poster and a testament to Republic's early visual impact on Western cinema. Parts of the borders and yellow back ground have been airbrushed to correct edge and fold wear, pinholes, creases, fold separation, and some tears, while touchup to the folds has addressed fold wear, creases, crossfold separation, and a few tears. Additionally, touchup, airbrushing, and replacement has corrected some chips throughout.
