Description
Limelight (United Artists, 1952). One Sheet (27" X 41").In Charles Chaplin's final American film, he's a washed-up music hall performer joined by Claire Bloom playing a paralyzed dancer. This was only Bloom's second film, the one that propelled her to stardom. Chaplin, feeling a bit sorry for fellow comic actor Buster Keaton, who was broke at the time, offered him a role in this film. This was the first feature length picture the two appeared in together. Edna Purviance, a long time Chaplin co-star favorite, makes her final screen appearance. Chaplin won an Academy Award for composing the film's score, the only competitive Oscar he ever won. The film also boasts this terrific one sheet, with multiple images of Chaplin in bright, well saturated color. There is a small stain in the bottom border, edge wear, small pieces of paper tape on the verso along the edges, and extra vertical folds. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
