The Seven Year Itch (20th Century Fox, 1955). Rolled, Very Fine-. Half Sheet (22" X 28").
While his wife and son vacation for the summer, Manhattan publisher Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell) stays behind and meets his stunning upstairs neighbor, played by Marilyn Monroe (credited only as "The Girl). Battling temptation and a vivid imagination, Richard wrestles with the so-called "seven-year itch". Though much of his attraction is fantasy, it leads to hilarious mishaps and inner conflict. Billy Wilder's clever direction and Monroe's charm make this a witty, playful take on male midlife crisis. The scene of Marilyn standing over the subway grate with air blowing her billowing dress is legendary and an uber-classic piece of cinema history. There is edge wear, bumping and small creasing to the borders. A few small splits to the left edge and a 2-inch split at left that is braced with three small strips of clear tape on the verso as well as three small splits to the right and one at bottom right, also with small strips of clear tape on the verso.
