One of the biggest hits of 1955, The Seven Year Itch became an instant classic thanks to Marilyn Monroe's star power, Billy Wilder and George Axelrod's razor-sharp dialogue, and a standout cast including Tom Ewell, Evelyn Keyes, and Sonny Tufts. While The Asphalt Jungle put Monroe on the map and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes made her a star, it was The Seven Year Itch that cemented her status as a cultural icon, in no small part due to the unforgettable scene of her standing over a subway grate as her dress billows in the breeze. This striking French grande poster by Boris Grinsson captures that exact moment, with Ewell looking on in awe, just as audiences did then and still do today. Though the image was reused in re-releases through the 1960s and '80s, this original-release large-format poster is a rare collector's prize, and only a third-time offer from Heritage Auctions. Touchup primarily along the folds has addressed fold wear, creases, misfolds, small crossfold separation, fold separation, and a few tears. Some flaws, like scuffs, remain visible.
