Description

Lady for a Day (Columbia, 1933). Fine on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 80").
A charming pre-Code film, Lady for a Day helped establish director Frank Capra's reputation for blending heartfelt storytelling with sharp social insight. Based on Damon Runyon's short story "Madame La Gimp," Lady for a Day was Columbia Pictures' first film to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and it also earned Capra his first nomination for Best Director. The plot centers on Apple Annie (May Robson), a destitute street vendor whose colorful friends band together to transform her into a society lady so she can impress her visiting daughter and maintain a long-standing illusion. A first time offer from Heritage, we are thrilled to present this glorious three sheet. The borders have been airbrushed and treated with some replacement to correct edge and fold wear, pinholes, creases, tears, chips/chipping, and trimming to parts of the borders. Additionally, touchup and airbrushing to the folds, title treatment, and blue background has addressed fold wear, creases, fold/crossfold separation, tears, and some chips. Some flaws may remain lightly visible.
