Dark Victory (Warner Bros., 1939). Fine. Linen Finish Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14").
In one of her favorite roles to have ever portrayed, Bette Davis commands the screen as Judith Traherne, the hedonistic New York socialite who must come to terms with her inoperable brain tumor. In a skillful, Oscar-nominated performance, Davis delivers a nuanced portrayal of her character, which can been seen in these two lobby cards that showcase the actress at very different points in the film, including one in which her character begins to realize that she is going blind and her life truly is at the beginning of its end. Both of these excellent cards have received restoration to the borders, corners, and parts of the interior to address pinholes, scuffs, creases, paper lifts, small tears, stains, and slight color fading. Additionally, touch-up has been applied to the interior image of Cora Witherspoon's white coat to the top card imaged, there are a few strips of masking tape on the verso, and the card is very slightly trimmed or subtly uneven to the top and bottom borders. Davis' essence radiates in these two cards, not often offered at Heritage, and would make for a prize addition to any collection.
