Description
High Noon (CB Films, R-1950s). Fine on Linen. Spanish Three Sheet (38.5" X 81").Heritage is pleased to present for the first time this scarce Spanish three sheet for High Noon, an Academy Award-winning Western that remains one of the most celebrated films of all time. Directed by Fred Zinnemann and starring Gary Cooper in a career-defining, Oscar-winning performance, the film follows Marshal Will Kane, who, on the day of his retirement, learns that a vengeful outlaw he once sent to prison is arriving on the noon train to kill him. As he seeks help from the townspeople, one by one, his friends and supporters abandon him, leaving him to face his fate alone. Shot in nearly real-time, its taut pacing, stark cinematography, and Dimitri Tiomkin's haunting score - including the iconic ballad Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin '- heighten the film's suspense and emotional depth. Grace Kelly, in one of her earliest film roles, brings nuance as Kane's Quaker bride, torn between her pacifist beliefs and her loyalty to her husband. Beyond its gripping narrative, High Noon was intended as an allegory for Hollywood's failure to stand up to the House Un-American Activities Committee in the 1950s, making it both a powerful political statement and an enduring cinematic masterpiece that defines the word "classic." The left and bottom borders have been replaced to correct trimming while airbrushing and touchup have been applied to a few parts of the folds to address fold wear, creases, misfolds, tears, and chips. Some restoration and flaws may remain lightly visible. From the Benito Medela-Piquepe Collection.
