Description

The Life of Buffalo Bill (Pawnee Bill Film Co., 1912). Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (28.25" X 42").
Commemorating the career of the great American Scout and one of the most colorful figures of the Old West, The Life of Buffalo Bill was not a moving picture of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, nor was it an ordinary Western drama, but an authorized and authentic story of the life of Colonel William F. Cody. Playing himself in the film (except of course for the scenes of his boyhood), this three-reel sensation follows Buffalo Bill's life beginning at the age of 12. Before entering show business, Cody was known for having several occupations including trapper, Colorado "Fifty-Niner," Pony Express rider, wagon master, stagecoach driver, Civil War soldier, and even hotel manager. He was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1872 for his role as a scout for the United States Army (1968-1872). His Wild West Shows were successful in the late 1880s and remained a popular subject in the early 1900s. This beautiful Pawnee Bill Film Company stone litho one sheet depicts Buffalo Bill in his various Indian battles and frontier exploitations. It has been professionally backed on linen. Very light touchup has been applied to a few minor tears and creases within the borders.
