Star Wars (20th Century Fox, 1977). Very Fine- on Paper. No Ratings Box Style Insert (14" X 36") Tom Jung Artwork.
Many assume that posters without a rating were meant for international use, but that wasn't the case with Star Wars. This rare insert was printed early in the film's promotion, before it had received a PG rating from the MPAA. Fearing the film might get a box-office-killing G rating, 20th Century Fox lobbied for a PG, causing a delay. As a result, the first U.S. posters-like this one-went out without a rating, with some one sheets bearing pasted-on rating snipes. The PG was ultimately granted before the May 25th release, due in part to the brief shot of the burned corpses of Luke's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. Backed on paper, this insert has had some fold touchup and filled pinholes, and shows additional horizontal creases at top and bottom.
