Description

Mary Miles Minter (Realart, ca. 1910s). Fine on Linen. Personality Poster (27.25" X 41.5").
One of Hollywood's earliest and brightest stars, Mary Miles Minter was a hugely popular American silent film actress known for her youthful beauty and captivating performances. Born Juliet Reilly in 1902, she adopted the stage name Mary Miles Minter to pursue acting and rose to stardom as a teenager. Minter appeared in hit films such as Anne of Green Gables, directed by William Desmond Taylor, which led to her becoming one of Hollywood's most beloved actresses. However, her career was overshadowed by scandal following the unsolved murder of Taylor in 1922, with whom she was romantically linked. The media frenzy and public backlash contributed to her abrupt departure from the film industry, leaving her as a tragic figure of early Hollywood. This gorgeous personality poster, however, captures Minter at her peak and beautifully coveys her captivating essence, and is sure to be a jewel in any early Hollywood collector's collection. Benefitting from professional restoration, the borders have been replaced and airbrushed to correct trimming while touchup and airbrushing within the interior have addressed fold wear, creases, slight fold and crossfold separation, some tears, and a few chips/minor chipping. From the Norm Lazarson Collection.
