Description
Follow the Fleet (RKO, 1936). Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41").Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers became the "it" couple of musicals in the 1930s, starring (and dancing) in nine films together between 1933 and 1939. Their fifth movie together was Follow the Fleet, the movie in which they memorably performed Irving Berlin's "Let's Face the Music and Dance." The one sheet offered here is one of the finest posters produced for the duo, capturing the pure joy elicited by Astaire and Rogers' performances. Prior to restoration, the poster displayed edge and fold wear, chips, tears, and paper lifts. The worst of the wear is near the folds and in the background and text areas, though there is a slight scratch in Fred Astaire's face, and there is a small tear in Ginger Rogers' leg. Most of these issues have been addressed by professional restoration, and even though a few small tears and scuffs are still visible, the poster displays very well. The poster has some slight bubbling where small portions are starting to separate from the linen, and airbrushing has been applied to the "Astaire" and "Rogers" credits, the title, the anchor above the title, and the borders.
